Flood, 24 kills and 70 Thousand Lost Houses

No fewer than 70,000 people left homeless by floods triggered by heavy rains in Chad, one of the countries in Central Africa.

The UN noted about 24 people were killed when incurred in the flood disaster. "Another 29 people were injured" said Ute Kollies, head of the UN Office in Chad.

Ute said another 40 people have died from cholera after the coming flood. Flooding also caused about 7,000 people suffering from cholera.

As quoted by CNN, the overall impact of flooding that has led to approximately 145,000 people in Chad. This amount is expected to continue rising.

"Today was the worst, and it should get more assistance," said Ute.

Floods have swept more than half of Chad. Flood-affected areas are areas that were afflicted by extreme drought last year.

No fewer than 6,000 people have been displaced. They live with family or seek shelter in school buildings and open areas.

The rainy season in Chad usually occurs from June until late September. But lately the rain occurred from early years. Heavy rains continued to occur since the beginning.
